One of Oxford Journals named Journal of Molecular Cell Biology (JMCB) was newly launched online at May 28th 2009 this year with the first review paper by Yisong Y. Wan and Richard A. Flavell, and the first article paper later at June 3rd 2009 titled “Generation of Pig-Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells with a Drug-Inducible System” by Dr. Lei Xiao group.

The Journal of Molecular Cell Biology (JMCB) is a new international journal publishing authoritative reviews and high quality, original articles in all areas of molecular and cell biology.

It is co-sponsored by the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the Chinese Society for Cell Biology (CSCB).

JMCB will be published jointly by SIBS/CAS and Oxford University Press in late 2009. Dr. Gang Pei, a renowned cell biologist and the President of CSCB, will be the honorary Editor for JMCB, and Dr. Dangsheng Li will be the Editor-in-Chief.

Actually, I had got this message about the new journal’s being coming out from Dr. Dangsheng Li at a Young Scientists Conference at late 2008. Dr. Dangsheng Li, previous Associate Editor of the prestigious journal Cell, present Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Cell Research, has great confidence to run JMCB to a peak of scientific acception and authority by peers in the life sciences research.

What’s more important, the new launch of JMCB will greatly promote the communications and exchanges of big-bang-ideas between Chinese and international biological scientists.

JMCB was the previous corresponding chinese language journal named “分子细胞生物学报” originally launched as early as 1936 when it was sponsored by Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Society of Cell Biology.
